Tuna carpaccio at FigOly.

Chef Alex Reznik (Top Chef season 7) recently took a little trip to Northern Italy for “research” and came back inspired by its flavors and culture, which transcends into his menu offerings at new downtown hotspot, FigOly. The name is taken from the restaurant’s location inside the Luxe City Center hotel at at Figueroa (Fig) Street and Olympic (Oly) Boulevard, right across from LA Live. Indulge in menu highlights like the mussels al forno, which are roasted with tomato and served with a pine nut gremolata and bone marrow. Tagarin pasta is made in house with a vintage Rosito Bisani pasta machine and arrives tossed with porcini and hen of the woods mushrooms, ricotta salata, cherry tomatoes, and Marsala; while land offerings include a 12 oz. bone-in filet and 32 oz. 21-day dry-aged prime bistecca all Fiorentina. Cocktails are created by master mixologist Matthew Biancaniello (Library Bar) who sources his ingredients from local farmers markets. You can also opt to dine FigOly Al Fresco, on an expansive outdoor terrace with more casual menu items like meatball sliders, a variety of small plates and pizzas. 1020 S. Figueroa St., downtown.
