For a city known for its stars, it’s the four-legged ones that will be stealing the spotlight on Thursday, May 1 at Universal Studios Hollywood. Much Love Animal Rescue, one of L.A.’s most beloved volunteer-run organizations, celebrates 25 years of compassion-fueled rescue work with “A Night for the Animals”—an unforgettable fundraising party with purpose.
Set against the backdrop of one of the city’s most iconic entertainment venues, this night is more than just a benefit—it’s a call to action, a community celebration, and a reminder that in Los Angeles, the spirit of rescue runs deep.
A Star-Studded Shelter of a Celebration

Hosted by actor and TV presenter Michael Burger, and headlined by Emmy-winning comedian and cultural commentator Larry Wilmore, the evening blends entertainment with advocacy in true Hollywood fashion. With comedy, magic, and celebrity dog handlers escorting adoptable pups down the “pup-walk,” the event promises joy and connection at every turn.
Expect creative appetizers and light bites by Katz Craft Kitchen, plus sips from local legends like The Gurin Wines, LA Ale Works, and Hera the Dog Vodka. From first pour to final bite, it’s a culinary celebration that mirrors the organization’s blend of care and creativity.
Meet the Heroes in Fur and Flesh

The real stars? The animals. With over 3,500 rescues placed into loving homes since 1999, Much Love has built an army of forever families, foster heroes, and adopters. Attendees will meet adoptable dogs escorted by celebrity guests including Tate Donovan and Brooke D’Orsay, turning what could be just another gala into a heart-melting matchmaking event.
With an estimated 44,000 stray dogs and up to 3 million feral cats in the greater Los Angeles area, Much Love fills a gap the city can’t manage alone. They don’t have a shelter facility—instead, they work through a tight-knit, all-volunteer network of fosters and medical partners. Every dollar raised at this event goes straight to rescuing and rehabilitating animals with nowhere else to turn.
“We’ve always prioritized the overlooked—senior dogs, those needing urgent medical attention, the ones most at risk,” the team at Much Love shares. “That’s been our mission since day one, and we’re not stopping.”
A Night Out That Can Change a Life

Tickets are $150 and available online, with all proceeds directly supporting Much Love’s lifesaving programs. This is more than just a party—it’s an opportunity to make an impact. Whether you leave with a new furry family member or a deeper connection to the cause, the night guarantees something real: a tangible way to be part of the solution.

If every dog has its day, May 1 is theirs. Come for the magic, stay for the mission—and leave knowing you helped rewrite the next chapter for animals who deserve so much more. Get ticket at muchlove.org
