Cirque du Soleil KOOZA
Starts Oct. 24. Marking its first show by the pier since 2014, Cirque du Soleil brings KOOZA to Santa Monica. The production, set under the big top, follows the journey of The Innocent, a naïve clown searching for his place in the world. His adventure begins when a mysterious item arrives, leading him into an exotic, fantastical realm under the guidance of a mysterious trickster. Oct. 26. Clifton’s Republic, the recently reopened L.A. landmark, hosts a night of mystery and history for Halloween. Guests will have access to the Brookdale Dining Hall, Monarch lounge and Gothic lounge, along with a complimentary welcome cocktail. The evening features ghostly burlesque by the Rhythm Howlers, DJ sets and magic. Also for $200, attendees can join a séance led by resident medium Matt Bruce. The Afterlife Transfer Trolley
Oct. 26-27; Oct. 31. This Halloween season, the Sunset Strip Business Improvement District, in partnership with the City of West Hollywood, introduces the Afterlife Transfer Trolley. Launching this weekend, the haunted hearse-inspired trolley will stop at 12 locations along Sunset Boulevard, where riders will be greeted by the spirits of the Sunset Strip sharing their eerie tales. Snap photos with ghostly riders and enjoy spooky stories from character actors in costume, with treats provided along the way. Spanish Dracula
Oct. 25-27. While Bela Lugosi’s Dracula was filmed by day, a Spanish-language version starring Carlos Villarías was shot at night using the same sets and script. Watch it on the big screen with English subtitles as Resident Conductor Lina González-Granados leads the LA Opera Orchestra in performing a new score by Academy Award-winning composer Gustavo Santaolalla (The Last of Us, Brokeback Mountain), who will also appear as the featured guitar soloist.
