The annual Pier 360 Beach Festival returns June 27-28, transforming the Santa Monica Pier and surrounding shoreline into a celebration of ocean sports, live entertainment, and California beach culture. The free, all-ages event draws thousands of visitors each year for a weekend packed with competition, music, food, and family-friendly activities.
Dating back to the 1930s, when paddleboard racing first took hold at the Santa Monica Pier, Pier 360 honors the city’s long connection to the ocean while showcasing the sports and traditions that helped define Southern California’s beach lifestyle.
“Pier 360 captures everything that makes Santa Monica special—our connection to the ocean, our active beach lifestyle, and the incredible energy of the Pier,” said Jim Harris, Executive Director and Historian of the Santa Monica Pier.
What to Expect

This year’s festival features paddleboard races, ocean swims, beach volleyball tournaments, the popular Santa Monica Strongman Classic, lifeguard competitions, and Ghost Jam Skate, which brings demonstrations, lessons, and competitions to the beach.
Visitors can also enjoy the return of the POP SK8 Roller Rink, live music throughout the weekend, a Beer & Spirits Garden for guests 21 and older, and the Museum of Beach Life, which explores the history of surf culture, Muscle Beach, and paddleboard racing in Santa Monica.
Families will find plenty to do with interactive games, kids activities, and beachside experiences spread throughout the festival grounds.
Explore the Museum of Beach Life

One of the more unique experiences at this year’s festival is the Museum of Beach Life, an immersive exhibit celebrating the history of surf culture, Muscle Beach, paddleboard racing, and Santa Monica’s long-standing relationship with the Pacific Ocean.
The exhibit offers a deeper look into the traditions and personalities that helped shape Southern California’s beach culture.
