Hello Kitty Pop-Up in Cerritos Is Closing Soon—Inside MINISO’s Limited-Time Sanrio Experience

At Los Cerritos Center, MINISO’s Hello Kitty and Friends pop-up has introduced a limited-time retail experience that blends immersive design with exclusive merchandise, drawing steady crowds since its arrival in Southern California. With the activation scheduled to close on April 12, the remaining window to visit is quickly narrowing.

This marks the first North American pop-up collaboration between MINISO and Sanrio, positioning the Cerritos installation as a key stop in the brand’s broader expansion of experiential retail across the region.

A Designed Retail Experience

Step inside and it reads like a soft, candy-colored world built for wandering. Plush displays line the walls, blind boxes stack in neat rows waiting to be picked, and every corner feels designed for a quick pause — a photo, a laugh, a small find you didn’t plan on buying. It’s light, a little nostalgic, and easy to spend more time in than expected — the kind of pop-up that turns a quick visit into something you carry out in a bag and on your camera roll.

The pop-up is structured as a walkthrough environment, beginning with a Hello Kitty-shaped entrance and extending into a series of open, navigable sections featuring My Melody, Kuromi, Cinnamoroll and other Sanrio characters.

The design incorporates a soft pink-and-blue color palette, large-scale character graphics and multiple designated photo areas, creating a space that is both visually cohesive and highly interactive. Select dates have also included character appearances, offering guests opportunities for on-site engagement beyond traditional retail.

Exclusive Products and Limited Releases

The retail offering spans more than 500 officially licensed Hello Kitty and Friends products, covering categories such as collectibles, accessories, stationery and lifestyle goods.

Among the highlights are nearly 30 vinyl plush pendant blind boxes and collectible figures, including newly introduced series such as Forest Animal and Hide and Seek. Additional collections like Hello Spring and Tennis Diary focus on everyday-use items, reinforcing the balance between novelty and practicality.

Many of these items are exclusive to the pop-up, emphasizing the limited nature of the experience and its appeal to both collectors and casual visitors.

A Limited-Time Window

The Cerritos pop-up follows an earlier run in New York and serves as the primary Southern California location before the concept expands into additional North American markets.

With its closing date set for April 12, the experience is entering its final stretch. Inventory and availability may vary as the end date approaches, making earlier visits more favorable for those seeking specific items or a fuller experience.
