Behind the Name: The D-Nice Story

When asked about his name, D-Nice shared a personal anecdote that takes us back to the roots of his journey.

“In the 80s, everything was about ‘Ice.’ There was Mixmaster Ice, Vanilla Ice… I thought, ‘I’ll be The Ice.’ But during the recording of our first single, ‘South Bronx,’ my buddy accidentally called me D-Nice, and it stuck. At first, I thought, ‘What is that?’ but it’s grown with me. Now, it feels like it represents my journey, my personality, and who I am today.”

That authenticity, that willingness to embrace what the universe hands you, is woven into every performance.

Why You Can’t Miss This

Beyond the star-studded lineup, the night is a celebration of resilience, creativity, and joy. As we mark five years since the pandemic altered how we gather and celebrate, this New Year’s Eve is a milestone. DJ D-Nice sees it as a time to honor the power of music to heal and connect:

“This isn’t just a concert; it’s a cleansing. It’s a way for us to step into 2025 with hope and unity,” he explains.

Expect soulful throwbacks, iconic hip-hop tracks, and timeless R&B grooves. From Stevie Wonder-inspired riffs to unexpected mashups with artists like Eminem, D-Nice’s set will be a masterclass in spontaneity, crafted in real-time to match the energy of the crowd.

“I don’t plan my sets,” D-Nice says. “I play what I feel in the moment. That’s when the magic happens. I want the music to feel as fresh to me as it does to the audience.”

For D-Nice, it’s not just about playing hits; it’s about creating an atmosphere.

“When I’m up there spinning, I want people to experience this live mixtape—like songs they know and love are being brought to life right in front of them. Imagine hearing Kane’s iconic flow, and suddenly Big Daddy Kane himself steps out to perform.”

D-Nice isn’t just a DJ. He’s a creative force with a deep appreciation for art in all forms.

“I’m more than just one-dimensional,” he shares. “I love photography, filmmaking, and storytelling. I want to share that creative side with people—beyond the music.”

This passion is palpable in everything he does, and it’s what makes his performances so unique.

The Walt Disney Concert Hall, with its world-class acoustics and striking architecture, provides the perfect stage for this electrifying experience.
