The LOT Summer Drive-In Movie Series

Starts Aug. 13. We’ve got another (new!) drive-in movies series for you! The luxury cinema at Fashion Island, The LOT, presents a three-week outdoor drive-in movie experience on the top floor of parking deck near Bloomingdale’s and Nordstrom. Featured films this weekend are A Life of Endless Summers: The Bruce Brown Story (Aug. 13), Transformers: The Last Knight (Aug. 14) and The Goonies (Aug. 15, 16). Move Your Booty Virtual Race

Starts Aug. 15. Grab your favorite mode of human-powered transportation and get ready to move your booty with Ocean Institute! Take the virtual challenge by walking, running, biking, stand-up paddle boarding or even kayaking now through September 10 by getting outside. All race registrants receives some limited-edition loot from the Ocean Institute, including an exclusive race t-shirt.

Summer Jazz Lunch at Bayside

Begins Aug. 15. The world renowned Irvine Barclay Theatre and local-favorite Newport Beach restaurant Bayside have partnered up for a special midday outdoor summer jazz series every Saturday through September 26. This week’s featured artist is Grammy-nominated vocalist Sara Gazarek (pictured) along with her three-man ensemble. Reservations required and are all-inclusive of lunch, tax, tip, and music. SUP Yoga

Aug. 15. Change up your Saturday morning routine with yoga … on the water! SoCal Paddle Yoga has partnered with Pirate Coast Paddle Company to bring SUP Yoga to Newport Beach where you can float atop a stable paddleboard while an instructor guides you through a basic flow of yoga postures linked with breath. Opens Aug. 14. Calling all early birds! Get your breakfast (or brunch) fix at the new pop-up cafe Paragon inside Shuck Oyster Bar at The OC Mix. Smörburgers at 4th Street Market

Opens Aug. 15. Get ready to indulge in mouthwatering, globally-influenced burgers from the new Smörgburger at the revamped 4th Street Market. Chef Joe Youkhan (Food Network’s Chopped champion) offers guests with an affordable and approachable menu featuring high-quality burgers on garlic-herb Portuguese buns, along with a variety of hand-cut fries. Symphony on the Air: Beethoven’s Seventh

Aug 16. KUSC and Pacific Symphony present a complete broadcast music program, Symphony on the Air, to enjoy in the comfort of your own home with live recordings of Pacific Symphony’s 2019-20 Classical Series concerts. This Sunday, tune in to hear music by composer Elliot Goldenthal and Vadym Kholodenko’s December 2019 performance of Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 3. Listen on KUSC 91.5 FM at 7 p.m.

Selections from the Festival of Arts Permanent Art Collection

On View. The Festival of Arts in Laguna Beach presents its latest off-site exhibit, Selections from the Festival of Arts Permanent Art Collection, located within the exquisite Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel. This exhibit showcases both classical and contemporary works from the Festival’s permanent art collection in a variety of mediums such as painting, photography, ceramics, watercolor and printmaking.
