North Orange County’s newest dumpling destination is serving guests by reservation during a limited soft opening ahead of its Aug. 31 grand opening. The 14,000-square-foot restaurant features an open dumpling kitchen, indoor dining and an outdoor patio.
Din Tai Fung opened its newest Orange County restaurant at Brea Mall on Aug. 7, bringing its celebrated xiao long bao, noodles and fried rice to a new 14,000-square-foot space in North Orange County.
The restaurant is currently operating at limited capacity and accepting reservations only. Its official grand opening is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 31, when broader service will begin.
Inside, diners can watch chefs fold and shape the brand’s signature soup dumplings through an open show kitchen. The restaurant also features expansive indoor seating, contemporary Chinese design details and an outdoor patio.
The menu includes Din Tai Fung staples such as Kurobuta pork xiao long bao, string beans with garlic, shrimp and Kurobuta pork spicy wontons, pork chop fried rice and chocolate and mochi xiao long bao. The full bar serves cocktails including the pear lychee martini.
“The arrival of Din Tai Fung marks another exciting addition to Brea Mall as we continue to enhance the shopping and dining experience for our guests,” said Derek Lobato, general manager of Brea Mall.
The restaurant is the chain’s fourth Orange County location, joining outposts in Anaheim, Costa Mesa and Irvine. It also arrives as part of Brea Mall’s larger redevelopment, which is adding new restaurants, retailers, residential buildings and an outdoor community plaza.
Walk-in dining, takeout and delivery are expected to roll out in phases leading up to the grand opening. Until then, securing a reservation is the only reliable path to the dumplings.
