The sexy “secret” Hollywood club’s entrance was formerly inside the old Papaya King. Now sbe has bid adieu to hot dogs and re-concepted the space debuting a new front room designed by Jascon Scoppa, cocktail and food menus, in addition to early-evening live entertainment at the club. When it comes to what’s going on in the LA music scene, this place offers some of the hippest and tastiest selections the city has to offer!
Since the Sayers Club opened its doors a few years ago, it has garnered a reputation for its exclusive live shows and the stars that have graced the stage there like Prince and The Black Keys. Sayers Sessions remain on Thursday nights, but the club will now add a weekly Rumer Willis residency on Tuesdays and a rotating bi-weekly residency with Mark Ballas (Dancing With The Stars), and vocalist Brenda Whitaker, beginning July 27. Sunday night jazz also debuts, showcasing American jazz musician Daron Johnson, who formerly collaborated with Miles Davis. The collaboration of Scoppa and Johnson is not a new one however; they were the duo behind the lauded jazz nights in at the Green Door in 2007. They are definitely helping to define what’s going on in the LA music scene.
Before you head into the club you have to eat, right? The intimate new front room mirrors the aesthetic of the club’s interior. You can either keep a low profile at a corner table, or pull up a stool at the reclaimed wood bar. Pizzas (like the Green Goddess) arrive straight from the wood burning oven, along with other fare like sausage stuffed crispy dates, hand-cut black truffle fries and tempura green beans. Drinks include a rotating menu of craft beers and signature cocktails like the Pineapple Smash and Mexican firing Squad.
