Los Angeles Rams Season Opener

Sept. 7. The Los Angeles Rams open their 2025 season against the Houston Texans at SoFi Stadium this Sunday, marking the debut of star receiver Davante Adams alongside Matthew Stafford and Puka Nacua against Texans quarterback—and Southern California native—C.J. Stroud. Celebrating the Rams’ 10th season back in L.A., the Vamos Rams game features a halftime set by DJ Deorro with the Mariachi Rams, $5 beers from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., kids activities at Rams Land and all the early NFL matchups on SoFi’s massive Infinity Screen. Gloria Molina Grand Park’s Block Party

Sept. 6. After its July postponement, Grand Park’s annual Fourth of July block party returns, reimagined as a love letter to Los Angeles. The free event will feature KCRW Summer Nights DJ sets, food trucks, art installations and a drone show celebrating the city’s resilience and joy. Highlights include “Little L.A.,” an interactive journey through immigrant enclaves with dance, storytelling and a chalk-drawn freeway map, plus an art walk showcasing portraits of everyday Angelenos. A PIERfect Benefit

Sept. 6. Golden hour takes center stage at the Santa Monica Pier’s first-ever benefit and 116th birthday celebration inside the historic Merry-Go-Round Building. Guests will enjoy bites, drinks, live music and an auction, with proceeds supporting the Pier’s free community programming. Ten percent of sales will also benefit the Pali Strong Foundation, making this coastal evening a celebration with purpose. Halloween Horror Nights

Sept. 4-Nov. 2. Spooky season arrives early as Universal Studios Hollywood launches Halloween Horror Nights. New mazes include Fallout, plunging guests into a post-apocalyptic Wasteland of Raiders, Ghouls and oversized RAD Roaches; Jason Universe, marking 45 years of Friday the 13th with a re-creation of Camp Crystal Lake; and a Five Nights at Freddy’s maze that brings its eerie animatronics to life. Oedipus the King, Mama!

Sept. 4-27. The Getty Villa’s Outdoor Classical Theater series returns with a bold new production that fuses Sophocles’s tragedy with the music of Elvis Presley. Performed by the L.A.-based Troubadour Theater Company, the mashup reimagines ancient drama with rock ’n’ roll flair in the Villa’s open-air amphitheater. 3rd Annual Los Angeles Kids Book Festival

Sept. 7. The 3rd Annual Los Angeles Kids Book Festival returns to West Hollywood Park. Presented by the American Born Chinese Foundation in partnership with the City of West Hollywood and sponsored by the LA Phil, the free event celebrates early childhood education, bilingualism and multiculturalism through a full day of activities for families.
