CicLAvia—Heart of L.A.
Oct. 11. Trade traffic for a neighborhood outing as more than 6.5 miles of streets open to people walking, cycling, skating and rolling. This edition connects downtown, Chinatown, Little Tokyo, the Arts District, Boyle Heights and Echo Park, with opportunities to stop at local businesses and explore along the way. Santa Monica Block Fest
Oct. 10. Dutch DJ and producer Laidback Luke headlines a free Halloween edition of this outdoor music gathering on Third Street Promenade. His set anchors the Beat Repeat stage, with Seduza, Payso, Lily Ardalan, Kokka and Waxthieves also on the lineup. Art Hearts Fashion at Level 8
Oct. 10. Rooftop runway shows bring an international roster of designers to Golden Hour at Level 8. The evening’s lineup includes Copacabana, Idol Jose, Bad Sisters, Marta Miljanic and Giannina Azar, spanning resortwear and couture against downtown’s skyline. Following the shows, the celebration moves to Sinners y Santos, the venue’s cathedral-inspired nightclub, for the closing after-party. Beverly Hills Run Club at Mercedes-Benz Studio

Off the Hook Seafood Festival
Oct. 11. Spend Sunday afternoon sampling seafood above the Pacific as this annual festival returns to the Santa Monica Pier. La Feria de los Moles

The festival puts Mexico’s complex, richly layered sauces at the center of a day that also includes artisan vendors, music and folkloric performances. Bacchus Uncorked at the Getty Villa
Oct. 10. Trace beer’s history back more than 5,000 years during an evening combining archaeology, conversation and tasting. Archaeologist Tate Paulette explores brewing in ancient Mesopotamia and Egypt, including his experiences recreating ancient beer, before beer historian Travis Rupp introduces contemporary brews inspired by those traditions. Oktoberfest at The Bungalow
Oct. 8–10. Bavarian beer-hall traditions arrive by the beach for three evenings of seasonal brews, hearty food and live entertainment at the Fairmont Miramar. The Best Medicine

Caroline Aaron, known for playing Shirley Maisel in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, stars in this solo play about a woman whose marriage changes when her husband develops Parkinson’s disease. Suddenly navigating the demands of caregiving, Rachel turns to a stand-up comedy class and finds an unexpected outlet. Written by Robin Gerber and directed by Jane E. Unger, the West Coast premiere draws on Gerber’s own caregiving experience. Come From Away
Opens Oct. 10. A small Newfoundland town becomes an unexpected refuge in this musical based on the people of Gander, who welcomed approximately 7,000 stranded airline passengers after 9/11. Director Julia Rodriguez-Elliott brings the story to A Noise Within’s intimate Pasadena theater, where an ensemble shifts between residents and travelers, accompanied by a seven-piece live band. The folk-influenced score carries a story of uncertainty, cultural encounters and practical acts of kindness.
