Kaleidoscope Experience
April 19-20. Crawl through a pillow fort, play arcade games and mini-golf, color on human robots, take in up-close magic with magicians from The Magic Castle and watch a live band perform Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin synched to animated movies. Cheech & Chong: Still Rollin’—Celebrating 40 Years of Up in Smoke
Opens April 20. Fans of the legendary comedy duo and music act can get a look at what led to their fame through master recordings, original movie scripts and items from Cheech’s guitar-art collection. Golden Road x Heal the Bay Pop-Up
April 20. Golden Road Brewery teams up with Heal the Bay to commemorate Earth Day. From noon-4 p.m., enjoy a pop-up gallery featuring art made with sustainable materials from local artists, plus $4 Golden Road brews (Heal The Bay IPA and Hazy Heal The Bay IPA; proceeds to Heal the Bay). At 6 p.m., the gallery will re-open for a celebratory event featuring complimentary beer, food, music, interactive art, and Golden Road swag. Daytime: free; evening: $20 donation. Zentopia
Opens April 20. An immersive art exhibit with many Instagrammable moments, Zentopia uses advanced UV/black-light effects to create a world of 3D glowing magic. Reach out to touch space particles, glowing flowers, and fairy-tale creatures while visiting the tranquil Zen Room, an underwater seascape, Mad Hatters’ Tea Party and more. $22. Pasadena Showcase House of Design
Starts April 21. Gather design inspiration at the 55th annual Pasadena Showcase House of Design—one of the country’s oldest and largest house-and-garden tours. This year, more than 24 top designers will reimagine the historic, 12,000-square-foot, Hollywood Regency-style Boddy House on the grounds of Descanso Gardens. L’Antica Pizzeria da Michele
April 18. One of the world’s most renowned pizzerias—known as the best pizza in Naples and made famous by Eat, Pray, Love —makes its L.A. debut as part of Eataly’s guest chef series. 4/20 at Prank Bar
April 19-22. The open-air watering hole in downtown’s South Park neighborhood is celebrating 4/20 all weekend long with a special menu of terpene cocktails and chocolates. (Terpenes are derived from the cannabis leaf but contain no THC. They are believed to aid inflammation and anxiety among other health benefits.) Egg Bowl and Festival
April 20. The Rose Bowl’s annual spring festival features family-friendly games and activities including face painting, live entertainment and photos with the Easter Bunny. Easter Weekend at Malibu Country Mart
April 20-21. The upscale seaside shopping destination will have a free bunny petting zoo and flower crown station by the playground on Saturday from noon-3 p.m. Then on Easter Sunday, Malibu Country Mart’s Taverna Tony restaurant is celebrating with a Greek Easter feast featuring 15 different specialties, including tabouli, several dips, dolmathes, roasted lamb, vegetables, chicken souvlaki and more. April 19. Chef Suzanne Tracht presents a four-course dinner merging Tracht’s family traditions with the flavors of Jar’s modern chophouse. After an informal seder, dinner begins with tray-passed house-cured salmon and chopped liver, followed by a first-course choice of matzo ball soup or salad. Akasha Passover Seder
April 20. Chef Akasha Richmond hosts her annual Passover seeder on the second night of the Jewish holiday.
