PaleyFest Fall TV Previews
Through Sept. 16. Get inside access to the stars and creators of fall’s hottest television shows through a showcase of panel discussions and screenings. The series kicks off with the cast and creative team of Showtime’s Shameless, followed by screenings and discussions with the cast and creatives of Univision’s El Chapo. Highlights also include Hulu’s Future Man and The Mindy Project; and the OWN network makes its debut at the fest with a special preview event celebrating the critically acclaimed series Queen Sugar with creator and executive producer Ava DuVernay and members of the cast. L.A. Loves Alex’s Lemonade
Sept. 9. Fireworks Finale: The Muppets Take the Bowl
Sept. 8-10. Join Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie the Bear and the rest of the gang for a sensational evening under stars. More than just a concert, the musical extravaganza marks The Muppets’ first-ever full-length live show and will feature special guests and never-before-seen antics alongside the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra. Burbank International Film Festival
Sept. 6-10. Ninth annual festival champions up-and-coming filmmakers and features film premieres, a red-carpet reception and an awards-show gala. Iphigenia in Aulis at Getty Villa
Sept. 7-30. The annual fall series at picturesque Getty Villa returns with the classical tragedy Iphigenia in Aulis. Carmen
Opening Sept. 9. Unrequited love can be a deadly thing, and Georges Bizet’s nearly 150-year-old opera Carmen could not capture the unfolding of of such a scenario—among a bullfighter, a gypsy woman and her scorned corporal lover—more intensely or melodiously. The LA Opera opens its 2017-18 season with a production of the opera conducted by James Conlon; Grammy Award winner Ana Maria Martinez mesmerizes with a come-hither gaze in the title role. Cuba Is
Opens Sept. 9. The Annenberg Space for Photography presents a photo exhibition that goes beyond the folklore of Cuba and offers new insight into its current reality. The Institute of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles (ICA LA)
Opens Sept. 9. Founded in 1984 as the Santa Monica Museum of Art, The Institute of Contemporary Art will open its doors this month in the DTLA Arts District. Last Ticket for the Beauty Train
Through Sept. 30. Enter the mind of L.A.-based artist Scott Hove through a duo of fully-immersive sculpture series and installations.
