Chris Rock

Westbound: Miracle on Santa Fe
Nov. 29-Dec. 31. Drink and make merry at DTLA’s speakeasy-inspired bar as it transforms into a kitschy, over-the-top Christmas wonderland. Falling snow, visits from Santa and more complement 15 specialty cocktails including Chailent Night (Monkey Shoulder Whisky, Martini Rubbino Vermouth and chai-spiced rum butter) and Run Run Rudolph (blanco tequila, coffee liqueur, iced hot chocolate and Mexican spices), among others. Cal Mare
Now Open. The new Beverly Center dining destination pays homage to cuisine of coastal Italy and Southern California. The restaurant is a collaboration among chef/partner Adam Sobel in collaboration with Michael Mina and MINA Group. Dine on a menu thath features seafood from both the Mediterranean and Pacific Ocean, as well as fresh handmade pastas and brick oven pizzas. Highlights of the menu include Caviale e Mozzarella, which features two of Sobel’s favorite ingredients: caviar and mozzarella. Other winning choices from the menu include carbonara pizza from the restaurant’s brick oven; handmade dungeness crab agnolotti with truffle, butternut squash and sea urchin; and an aged roasted duck for two with lavender honey and fennel seed. Belle Vie
Now Open. Walking into the cozy bistro in West LA is not unlike how it would be in France. Owner and sommelier Vincent Samarco greets every guest from behind the bar, while diners vie for seats to chat with him there—many in French—while others filter into red leather banquettes that fill out the jewel box space. Warm hospitality teams with inventive and authentic French dishes from chef Cedric Nicolas. The beef Bourguignon tacos are a must, along with the restaurant’s signature Angel’s Eggs (their take on deviled eggs served with an addictive chipotle mayonnaise), and grilled octopus served over burnt cauliflower and cauliflower puree. The night we were there the restaurant served roasted Mary’s chicken breast with a morel mushroom sauce with pommes dauphine. To celebrate her new home collection, Los Angeles designer Jenni Kayne outfitted a renovated 1957 Airstream (pictured here) with her favorite pieces and sent it on a cross-country tour. This month, the mobile shop returns to L.A. County with two pop-ups: Dec. 3-10 at Platform in Culver City and Dec. 12-24 at the Grove.
