A Bowie Celebration

Jan. 8. Celebrate the life and legacy of one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century, as well as a trailblazer of musical trends and pop fashion, during this global streaming concert. Jan. 10. New year, new drive-in movies series at the iconic Hollywood Roosevelt for this month! Stranger Things: The Drive-Into Experience

Continuing. Calling all Stranger Things fans! Even though it’s now 2021, travel back in time to 1985 and become a Hawkins resident—in real life. Immerse yourself in the thrilling world of Netflix’s hit show with this “drive-into” experience where you’ll cruise through the Starcourt Mall, the Upside Down and more in groups of 24 cars at a time. Pigeon Pop-Up at Hermanito

Opens Jan. 9. Get a taste of stir-fried Asian street food from Pigeon, a wok cart pop-up, at Hermanito. Guests can stop by Saturday and Sunday through the month of January to order menu items such as kimchi chorizo fried rice, chicken karaage, Sichuan tempura veg fried rice and carne asada chow fun (pictured). There’s also two sides you can enjoy: pozole potstickers and spicy fried potatoes. Pigeon will be accepting card payments only. Guests can also order online for pick-up through the ordering website. Baba’s Vegan Sunday Pop-Up

LA Opera’s Modulation

Begins Jan. 8. Enter a whole new world of opera and theater with this user-led digital experience from LA Opera. Presented in collaboration with the Prototype Festival, Modulation allows audience members to be in control and navigate through a landscape of new musical pieces—each with its own visual component—exploring the strands that weave together our lives over this past tumultuous and revelatory year. Violinst Anne Akiko Meyers and Pianist Fabio Bidini

Jan. 9. Tune in for a special livestream recital featuring award-winning violinist Anne Akiko Meyers and pianist Fabio Bidini at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts. Watch as the duo takes the audience on a journey to France from an earlier era, featuring works of Charles Gounod, Jules Massenet and Maurice Ravel. Through Feb. 7. Put your detective skills to the test with this virtual show based on an unsolved 1920s Hollywood murder. In Citizen Detective, audience members become the sleuths in a case that mixes theater, mystery and collaborative code-breaking. Guided by best-selling true crime author Mickie McKittrick, you and your fellow detectives will uncover the evidence and follow the clues, altering the course of the show every night.
