The Wizard’s Den

Reopened. Step into a magical world filled with sorcery, spells and delicious concoctions at this wizard-themed, pop-up bar experience in Hollywood. Don your robe and sip delights as you experiment in the ancient art of potion making—aka concocting devilish brews for good (or evil) under the watchful eye of the potions master. There will also be mystical challenges to overcome in order to unlock your potion ingredients in this hands-on experience. Taqueando Takeover Presents: Chef John Sedlar of Rivera

April 22-24. Come hungry to the all-you-can-eat festival Taqueando’s rotating pop-ups curated by Latin American food expert Bill Esparza featuring taqueros, taqueras and friends. This weekend, James Beard Award-winning chef John Sedlar (pictured) and his iconic L.A. restaurant Rivera returns with familiar menu items including tortillas florales, duck confit enfrijoladas, caracoles (snails) and mole ice cream, among others. April 23-25. Don’t miss out the 11th annual Taste of the Eastside where more than a dozen Eastside establishments have created a signature offering available for dine-in, pickup and delivery. FILM at LACMA: John Van Hamersveld Crazy World Ain’t It

April 23-25. Join FILM at LACMA for a screening of John Van Hamersveld Crazy World Ain’t It, (running time of 11 minutes) and a post-film conversation with directors Christopher Sibley, Dave Tourjé, and the artist John Van Hamersveld, moderated by artist and filmmaker Heather Flores. This short documentary peers into the career of the artist behind many iconic pop-culture images of surf, music and cinema. Los Angeles Master Chorale’s High School Choir Festival 

April 23. In celebration of the 32nd year of the Los Angeles Master Chorale’s annual High School Choir Festival (HSCF), watch the premiere of its virtual Festival Day video on Friday. During the Festival Day, there will be hundreds of high school students from 26 schools participating in three virtual choir performances—“Happy” by Pharrell Williams, “Resilience” by Abbie Betinis and “Es Tu Tiempo” by Francisco Núñez—all led by Grant Gershon, Kiki and artistic director David Gindler. 10 a.m. Free. lamasterchorale.org

Getty Villa

Reopened. The Getty Villa museum and gardens in Pacific Palisades is now reopen to a limited number of visitors with free reservations. Visitors will finally have the opportunity to see Mesopotamia: Civilization Begins, which was slated to open just days after the Getty Villa was forced to close in March 2020. To ensure the safety of visitors and staff, there will be specific one-way routes and other measures in place.
