L.A. Marathon
March 8. The annual Los Angeles Marathon begins at Dodger Stadium, sending more than 25,000 runners across 26.2 miles of city streets before looping through West Los Angeles toward Century City. Studio Ghibli Day at the Little Tokyo Flea Market
March 8. A Studio Ghibli–inspired pop-up transforms the first two floors and outdoor plaza of Little Tokyo Galleria into a marketplace of film merch, collectibles and fan-made creations. March 7. A dog-friendly gathering takes over the Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Garden, pairing an afternoon outdoors with food trucks, craft pours from Mt. Gustavo Dudamel leads the Los Angeles Philharmonic in a program that moves from the pastoral calm of Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6 to the fiery intensity of Thomas Adès’ Inferno. Beethoven’s “Pastoral,” known for its birdsong woodwinds and rumbling thunderstorm passages, captures the composer’s love of the countryside, while Adès’ score—part of his Dante ballet and a Grammy-winning orchestral recording—plunges the evening into a darker, dramatic sound world.
