The District’s “Haunted Trivia & Film Festival”
Every Friday. Get in the Halloween spirit with a family-fun “Haunted Trivia & Film Festival” on Friday nights at The District. This week’s featured film is the 1995 supernatural comedy-drama Casper, followed by Goosebumps (Oct. 15), Frankenweenie (Oct. 22) and Nightmare Before Christmas (Oct. 29). Arrive early to grab a spot in the AMC Courtyard and purchase takeout from The District’s many restaurants, while enjoying lively music and drinks from the beer and wine garden. Shopping, Tacos and Music at HD Buttercup
Oct. 9. Join California-based furniture and rugs retailer HD Buttercup for a special shopping event at its Costa Mesa showroom at SOCO and the OC Mix. Shop the latest styles in furnishings and home decor, while browsing the showroom’s favorite fall picks. During the event, chef Chris Tzorin (seen on Food Network shows Cutthroat Kitchen, Guy’s Grocery Games and Man vs. Child: Chef Showdown) will be serving up some tasty tacos, and the first 100 tacos will be free! Wayne Thiebaud-Inspired Circus Day
Oct. 10. Have a laugh during Laguna Art Museum’s fun-filled, circus-themed day with art-making and a special performance from the Bob Baker Marionette Theater. Taking place at Tiffany’s Blue Box Cafe in South Coast Plaza, the pop-up is offering specialty beverages such as matcha latte, matcha lemonade, matcha chai, a Tiffany blue drink (made with collagen, blue algae, lavender honey and milk), and more. Mix Mix’s 5-Year Anniversary Prix-Fixe Dinner
Through Oct. 31. With October being Filipino American History Month as well as Mix Mix Kitchen Bar’s 5-year anniversary, chef Ross Pangilinan whipped up a special prix-fixe menu to honor both his heritage and restaurant milestone. The dinner starts with a seared hamachi followed by crispy pork cheeks and maitake mushrooms with jalapeño lime aioli. O Sea Hosts Fundraiser to Support Oil Spill Cleanup Efforts
Through Oct. 31. In response to the current oil spill cleanup efforts along the Orange County coast, O Sea will donate a portion of the proceeds from its National Seafood Month limited menu to Surfrider Foundation. For the month of October, 10% of O Sea’s recently launched specials will be donated to support and enhance the cleanup efforts underway. An Evening with Michael Feinstein at Irvine Barclay Theatre

Principal Pasadena Pops conductor Michael Feinstein puts down the conducting baton and picks up the microphone to perform an intimate showcase of songs written by legendary composers such as Irving Berlin, Jerome Kern, Johnny Mercer and Duke Ellington. Auryn String Quartet at Segerstrom Center
Oct. 10.
