L.A. retail has gotten tres chic with a spate of new, exclusive European boutiques. Known for its luxe bohemian knits, Missoni (469 Rodeo Drive, Beverly Hills, 310.860.9265) has opened an architecturally impressive flagship store—the façade is constructed of bands of painted aluminum, recalling the design house’s signature wavy stripes—featuring the women’s and men’s collections plus accessories, sunglasses, Missoni Mare swimwear and Missoni Home products. Armani Exchange’s (157 N. Robertson Blvd., L.A., 310.270.4322) first concept store, on Robertson Boulevard, is a futuristically styled spot featuring an edited assortment of seasonal pieces and exclusive items such as vintage-wash khaki separates. Farther down Robertson, AllSaints (100 N. Robertson Blvd., L.A., 310.432.8484) is the inaugural U.S. store of the U.K.-based brand beloved for its edgy, chic-yet-rugged clothes and accessories for men, women and kids; 50 more stateside outposts are in the works. Superelegant art and culture book publisher Assouline (8475 Melrose Place, West Hollywood, 323.782.4212) opened a chic Melrose Place boutique featuring a café with bites from next-door restaurant Bastide.
