Strut Your Mutt
Aug. 24. Celebrate with your furry friends in style as Madame Tussauds’ “woof-top” is transformed into a puppy paradise for the evening. The museum is teaming up with celebrity dog groomer Jess Rona and spcaLA for Strut Your Mutt, a special event featuring Three Dog Bakery treats, pampering from Rona herself, a “pup-up” portrait studio, shopping and goodies from local pet boutiques and more. DTLA Proud Festival
Aug. 24-26. DTLA Proud Festival returns to Pershing Square to celebrate the culture, history and diversity of downtown L.A.’s vibrant LGBT community with a lineup of local stage talent, community booths, art installations, retail vendors, interactive exhibits, food trucks, bars and a pop-up water park. LACMA Muse ‘til Midnight
Aug. 25. This year’s Muse ’til Midnight event—an immersive late-night museum experience—draws inspiration from current exhibition 3D: Double Vision. The evening includes a musical lineup curated by DUBLAB, featuring performances by acclaimed artists Visible Cloaks, Jacques Greene, Asmara (Nguzunguzu) and many more. Additionally, special site-specific sound and visual installations will be on view. Performances are to take place at various locations throughout the museum. Summer Happenings: The Greater Body (Shi-Dati)
Aug. 25. The Broad’s late-night summer series continues this Saturday. Chinese punk, post-punk, ritual performance, film, psychedelia and more come together for a night unlike any other at The Broad. Aug. 25. As if the usual weekend characters at the Venice Beach boardwalk aren’t enough of a draw, come check out this all-day outdoor festival featuring art, music, dance, food and more. Performances by Venice locals run all day with Big Brother and the Holding Company (Janis Joplin’s original band from her Haight-Ashbury days) closing out the show. Foo Fighters’ Cal Jam 18 Pop-Up

Aug. 26. Citadel Outlets is inviting all puppy parents and beer aficionados to the annual Barks & Brews event filled with craft beer tasting, food truck bites and live entertainment. While owners sip on cold brews from Lagunitas Brewing Co., Angel City Brewery and others, pups can enjoy a costume contest, “meet and greet” with Instagram-famous dogs, photo booth, pet caricature portraits, games and music. Deviled Eggs Burlesque Brunch
Aug. 26. Brack Shop Tavern will celebrate the one-year anniversary of its monthly event series. Lucques’ Rib Fest
Aug. 26. Suzanne Goin and Caroline Styne present their 18th annual barbecue event featuring a feast of slow-cooked ribs, hot wings, and sides. A week of preparation goes into the smoking of St. Louis-style pork ribs, braised beef back ribs, spiced lamb spare ribs and too-hot-to-handle chicken wings, all served family-style. “Moon&” by szalt (dance co)
Aug. 26. Ford Theatres presents the world premiere of moon& by szalt (dance co). Mirrored by the eight phases of the moon, moon& is an evening-length work by szalt (dance co.)’s founding artistic director Stephanie Zaletel.
