The aromas of saffron, grilled kabobs and Persian pastries will fill ROW DTLA when SmorgasJOON returns Sunday, July 26. Presented by Farhang Foundation and Smorgasburg Los Angeles, the free, one-day festival celebrates the food, music, art and creative spirit of Los Angeles’ Iranian community.
The culinary lineup brings together Iranian chefs, cafés, bakeries and dessert makers, including DarBar Bakery, Kabobaholic, Kinrose Creamery, Koja Cafe, Kuku Cafe, Maison De La Fork, Dezzertaholic–Mashti Malone’s, Meymuni Cafe, Teeleet, SAFFRONIQ and Mēnosh.
KCRW DJ Nassir Nassirzadeh opens the day with Iranian and global rhythms from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by Discotchari from 1 to 4 p.m. Artist Mohtadi Mirak will offer live Persian calligraphy demonstrations and gifts, while vendors such as Diyar Concept Store, Namisanati Fine Perfumery and Shamad showcase Iranian art, fashion, fragrances and traditionally crafted textiles.
SmorgasJOON offers Angelenos an open-air introduction to Iranian culture as it continues to evolve across the city—rooted in tradition, shaped by migration and best experienced around a shared table.
