Level 8 Lunar New Year Night Market: A One-Night Culinary Takeover in Downtown Los Angeles

On Thursday, February 26, the top floor of Downtown Los Angeles shifts tone. Elevators open to lantern light, rising basslines, and the scent of live fire and truffle in the air. For one night only, Level 8 transforms its eight-venue playground into a progressive Lunar New Year night market—an all-you-can-eat culinary circuit curated in partnership with Chef Jasper Lynn, founder of the award-winning Rosalynn Supper Club.

The concept is simple: move, taste, repeat. But the execution leans precise, chef-driven, and elevated—more tasting tour than street fair.

A Progressive, Eight-Stop Culinary Journey

Each venue inside Level 8 presents a distinct bite, encouraging guests to explore the entire floor.

At Maison Kasai, the French-Japanese teppanyaki restaurant, the menu lands boldly: wagyu layered with YEAT Hay Sichuan chimichurri, and fire-roasted hokkaido scallops finished with white truffle chili crunch. It’s indulgent and intentional—heat, smoke, and umami balanced with finesse.

Lucky Mizu brings its seiro mushi sensibility into the celebration, offering delicate, steam-forward bites that nod to tradition while staying modern.

At Qué Bárbaro, live-fire cooking channels South American energy—charred proteins and bold sauces designed to cut through the night air by the pool.

The alfresco elegance of Mother of Pearl introduces a lighter contrast—oysters and champagne moments layered into the evening’s progression.

At Golden Hour, the rotating carousel bar becomes a social anchor—cocktails in hand, skyline in view, guests weaving between stations.

Elsewhere, Mr. Wanderlust keeps the piano-bar spirit alive with jazz-inflected ambiance, while The Brown Sheepdelivers playful, street-inspired bites elevated through technique.

And then there’s Sinners y Santos—transformed not into a traditional dance floor, but into a Mahjong Den. From 7 p.m. to 1 a.m., guests gather around tiles instead of VIP tables. Open bars flow. DJs set the rhythm. The energy is late-night, but the ritual is communal.

Culture at the Center

Beyond the plates, the evening expands outward. A dedicated Mahjong lounge hosted by Wan Collective serves as a cultural focal point—inviting guests to sit, strategize, and linger. Local AAPI artisans will showcase their work throughout the floor, weaving craft and storytelling into the celebration.

Chef Jasper Lynn’s influence grounds the night. Known for intimate, community-driven dining through Rosalynn Supper Club, Lynn brings a modern Asian lens to the experience—refined technique layered with the spirit of Chinatown After Dark and Los Angeles’ evolving food culture. The bites are not casual pass-arounds; they are composed, plated with intention, and designed to reflect a high-end dining format within a night market framework.

The Experience

This is a 21+ event. Tickets grant access to the full-floor, all-you-can-eat dine-around experience across all eight venues. Guests are encouraged to explore freely, discovering flavors room by room, from live fire to raw bar to piano lounge.

For Downtown Los Angeles, Lunar New Year often centers around tradition and family. At Level 8, that spirit rises 18 stories above the street—reframed through movement, shared plates, and a night that unfolds one venue at a time.
