The cult-favorite Los Angeles burger spot will open its largest location on San Vicente Boulevard, serving Oklahoma-style burgers alongside skate photography and vintage design. A hot griddle, a fistful of onions and enough pressure to turn American wagyu into a crisp-edged patty: Burger She Wrote has built its Los Angeles following by keeping the formula focused.
This fall, the cult-favorite smashburger restaurant will bring that formula to Brentwood. Its forthcoming location at 11686 San Vicente Boulevard will be Burger She Wrote’s third and largest restaurant, following its original Fairfax District storefront and a Sherman Oaks location that opened in May.
The new restaurant joins a growing collection of casual dining spots along San Vicente Boulevard, giving the neighborhood a place where wagyu, skate culture and King’s Hawaiian buns can comfortably share the same table.
Burger She Wrote was founded in 2021 by professional skateboarder Don “Nuge” Nguyen, the late Los Angeles restaurateur Steven Arroyo and entrepreneur Mikayel Israyelyan of Muse Lifestyle Group. Arroyo, whose extensive restaurant career helped shape several corners of the city’s dining culture, brought his familiar eye for neighborhood restaurants to the original concept.
The restaurant has since grown organically, attracting local regulars, professional skateboarders, artists and the occasional celebrity sighting. Timothée Chalamet, Benny Blanco, Hilary Duff, Seth Rogen, Tony Hawk, Jack Black, Will Ferrell and members of Turnstile have all reportedly stopped by over the years.
Celebrity roll call aside, the real draw remains a burger that arrives hot, compact and properly messy.
The Oklahoma Burger Leads the Menu
Burger She Wrote’s tightly edited menu revolves around the Oklahoma Burger, a nod to Nguyen’s home state and one of America’s earliest smashburger styles.
The onion burger traces its history to Oklahoma during the economic hardships of the 1920s and ’30s, when cooks pressed thinly sliced onions directly into beef patties. The onions added flavor and helped restaurants stretch limited supplies of meat. What began as economic necessity developed into a regional specialty with crisp edges, deeply browned onions and a devoted following.
Burger She Wrote gives that tradition a Los Angeles upgrade by using patties made from 100% Snake River Farms American wagyu. The beef is smashed with onions on the griddle, topped with American cheese and tucked inside a slightly sweet King’s Hawaiian bun.
The menu also includes Classic Smash Burgers and a plant-based Impossible version. Beyond burgers, guests can order a Fancy Grilled Cheese layered with grilled onions, pickles and the restaurant’s creamy, tangy BSW sauce.
With approximately 25 seats, the Brentwood restaurant will offer additional indoor, outdoor and counter seating compared with Burger She Wrote’s existing locations Signature tilework will combine kelly green, forest green, deep blue, light beige and white. The pattern has also inspired an upcoming clothing collaboration with Southern California apparel company Brixton, expanding Burger She Wrote’s growing collection of streetwear-oriented merchandise.
That background matters here. Burger She Wrote feels like a burger shop created by people who understand that the room, music, photographs and crowd all affect how a meal lands. The burger may disappear in five minutes, but the restaurant should give people a reason to hang around after the final fry. For Brentwood, the immediate promise is simpler: smashed wagyu, grilled onions and a neighborhood burger counter with some personality behind it.
