An Inspirational Journey of Redemption at The Actors’ Gang Theater

The Actors’ Gang Theater presents its poignant production, (Im)migrants of the State, for a limited engagement from January 19th to January 28th. This emotionally charged play, crafted by formerly incarcerated actors from the Prison Project, melds raw self-reflection with humor, narrating their journey towards redemption. The ensemble, boasting over 240 years of combined incarceration experience, shares inspiring tales that resonate with themes of hope and overcoming adversity.

A highlight of each show is the Red Hot Sharing ritual, where participants and audience members alike are invited to engage in a cathartic moment of emotional expression, culminating in a unifying Kinesthetic clap.

This initiative, led by Artistic Director Tim Robbins, has been transforming lives through theater in California’s correctional system since 2006. The return of (Im)migrants of the State, following its initial sold-out run, speaks to the power and inspiration drawn from the real-life experiences of its creators. Co-directors Jeremie Loncka and Rich Loya, along with ensemble members like Scott Tran and Montrell Harrell, emphasize the healing and unifying power of theater, hoping to impart a message of resilience and redemption to their audiences.
