East Village Blues Festival

June 10. They’ll be singin’ the blues at this second annual event on Saturday—when the region’s top blues musicians will converge for an evening of live concerts and libations. Presented by Electric Playground, the festival hosts performances by Whitney Shay (pictured) and Taryn Donath Trio—both are San Diego Music Awards (SDMA) winners—along with Brother Yusef, The Tighten Ups and Anthony Cullins (SDMA’s “Best Blues Artist”). Shipwrecks House Music Fest

June 10. A pirate-themed music experience devoted to electronic house music? Count us in! This annual festival features artists like OMNOM, Freak On, Ciszak, Broken Future, Nutty and many more. Waterfront Park will transform into a pirate-themed playground—boasting multiple pirate-ship stages, a designated dance floor, elevated food vendors, cocktails, bay views and an appearance by Captain Jack Sparrow himself. Toyota Summer Concert Series

Through July 4. The San Diego County Fair is in full swing at Del Mar Fairgrounds, and so is its signature summer concert series. This weekend, the Corona Grandstand Stage hosts a live standup act by comedian Kevin Hart (pictured) on Friday; and a performance by 17-member band La Adictiva on Sunday. Other upcoming headliners in the series include Lynyrd Skynyrd on June 17, Boyz II Men on June 22, Nelly on June 28, Alabama on July 1, and Switchfoot on July 3. San Diego Beer Weekend

June 9-11. Bottoms up! The San Diego Brewers Guild celebrates 26 years of promoting San Diego’s breweries (now more than 150!) with a weekend-long beer hop across the county. Beer lovers can visit dozens of small and independent local breweries for special beer releases, exclusive commemorative glassware and more. Participants include Belching Beaver, BLAH Brewing Co., Bolt Brewery, Chula Vista Brewery, Coronado Brewing Co. Summer Luau at Kona Kai

June 9. Kona Kai Resort & Spa transforms its bayfront property on Shelter Island into the Hawaiian Islands with its third annual luau-themed celebration. The fun includes fire-knife dancers, Tahitian dancing, a special performance by Taupou Samoa, live music, a lei greeting and complimentary welcome drink, and a buffet dinner of Polynesian cuisine. Agave Fest at Estancia La Jolla

June 10. Be transported south of the border, sip by sip, at this second annual celebration of agave-based spirits like tequila and mezcal at Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa. San Diego Brew Festival

June 10. Because there’s no such thing as too many beer celebrations in America’s Finest City, the 12th annual San Diego Brew Festival returns to Liberty Station’s NTC Park. The event will showcase around 200 beers from more than 70 local and international craft breweries; along with lawn games, live music and fare from 10 popular San Diego food trucks. Breweries include Mike Hess Brewing, Fall Brewing Company, Societe Brewing Company, Modern Times Beer, Sierra Nevada and many more. Illusionist Scott Silven at The Conrad

June 9-10. Do you believe in magic? You no doubt will after witnessing Scott Silven’s WONDERS show. The acclaimed master illusionist, mentalist and performance artist visits The Conrad this weekend—presented by La Jolla Music Society as part of its “Concerts @ The JAI” series. Prepare to be mesmerized by an awe-spiring, immersive performance like no other. The Scottish-born artist has been hailed as “mesmerizing” by the Los Angeles Times and “truly astonishing” by Tatler, among myriad media raves. San Diego Potters’ Guild Spring Patio Show

June 10-11. Head to Studio 29 at Spanish Village Art Center in the heart of Balboa Park (north of The NAT and south of the zoo) for the San Diego Potters’ Guild’s Spring Patio Spring Show & Sale. Comprised of more than 40 potters from San Diego, the Guild is a working ceramics studio and gallery—whose members make and sell one-of-a-kind creations directly to the public. Steam and Splendor at Maritime Museum

Now Open. The Maritime Museum of San Diego welcomes you aboard for Steam and Splendor: Treasures from the Ocean Liner and Cruise Ship Ephemera Collection. Staged in the Gould Eddy gallery aboard the museum’s 1898 Victorian-era steam ferryboat, Berkeley, the exhibit covers 100-plus years of recreational and destination ocean travel—including thousands of ocean liner and cruise ship ephemera, from vintage brochures to menus and much more. Open daily 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Exhibit visits are included with general admission (see website for pricing). 1492 N.
