Museum explores UCI’s influence on the Southern California art scene.

Now through January 22, Laguna Art Museum explores the University of California at Irvine’s influence on the development of contemporary art in Southern California through its new exhibit Best Kept Secret. In the 1960s and early ‘70s, creativity and artistic experimentation flourished at the university, now more known for its reputable science and medicine programs than its art ones. The exhibition displays the works of nearly 40 faculty and student artists including Nancy Buchanan, Richard Newton, James Turrell and Alexis Smith and features first-hand interviews with the artists and other resources related to this time period. 307 Cliff Dr., Laguna Beach, 949.494.8971.
