Virtual Maritime Festival

Sept. 11-13. Ahoy! Sail into the weekend with Dana Point’s ocean education center, Ocean Institute, for a three-day stream marathon. Watch maritime establishments come together from around the globe to offer interactive virtual experiences—both live and pre-recorded—ranging from maritime reenactments and cannon battles to mermaid encounters, sea shanties, music and a sail cargo. Improv Live Comedy Drive-In

Sept. 12. Experience live comedy like never before at Irvine Improv’s drive-in event. Head to the top of Regal Parking Deck (5 Freeway side) at Irvine Spectrum Center to watch some of the biggest names in comedy from the comfort of your own vehicle. Summer Jazz Lunch at Bayside

Sept. 12. Swing into the weekend with Irvine Barclay Theatre and Bayside’s midday outdoor summer jazz series—hosted every Saturday through September 26. This week’s featured jazz artists are John Clayton (pictured), Jeff Hamilton and Graham Dechter. Reservations required and are all-inclusive of lunch, tax, tip, and music. Six-Course Dinner at Knife Pleat (Updated on Sept. 10 at 7:15 p.m.)

Sept. 11. Due to the poor air quality, Knife Pleat is moving chef Tony Esnault’s six-course dinner from outside to its dining room inside! Delight in featured courses such as tomato gazpacho, steak tartare, forest mushroom risotto, Mediterranean dorade, Crescent Farm duck, and fig and orange sorbet. Along with the tasting menu, guests have the option to opt in for wine pairings. Seating is limited; reservations highly recommended. 6:30 p.m. $175 per person, additional $90 for wine pairings. Loose Leaf Boba Co. at 4th Street Market

Opens Sept. 12. Get your boba fix at Loose Leaf Boba Company’s newest location inside Santa Ana’s famed food hall. To kick off the grand opening, watch a traditional Chinese lion dance on 4SM’s brand new front patio at noon. The first 100 customers receive one free original milk tea or Thai tea with boba, or half-off any other drink. The following 50 guests will receive half-off any drink! Can’t make it to the opening? Ballet Folklórico de Los Ángeles Drive-in Performance

Sept. 10. Distinguished dance company Ballet Folklórico de Los Ángeles welcomes guests to watch their live event at The Muckenthaler Cultural Center as part of the center’s weekly drive-in series. This experience is great for the family, especially for kids who love the Pixar film, Coco, since the company danced at the 90th annual Academy Awards in celebration of the movie. Newport Beach Garden Tour

Through Sept. 16. Take home an original work of art from this year’s Newport Beach Garden Tour at Sherman Library & Gardens in Corona del Mar! The finished works of this year’s eight hand-selected artists are on display inside Café Jardin at Sherman Library & Gardens.
