Virtual Maritime Festival
Sept. 11-13. Ahoy! Sail into the weekend with Dana Point’s ocean education center, Ocean Institute, for a three-day stream marathon. Watch maritime establishments come together from around the globe to offer interactive virtual experiences—both live and pre-recorded—ranging from maritime reenactments and cannon battles to mermaid encounters, sea shanties, music and a sail cargo. Improv Live Comedy Drive-In
Sept. 12. Experience live comedy like never before at Irvine Improv’s drive-in event. Head to the top of Regal Parking Deck (5 Freeway side) at Irvine Spectrum Center to watch some of the biggest names in comedy from the comfort of your own vehicle. This week’s lineup includes Mitch Burrow, Jackie Fabulous, Matt Braunger, Orlando Leyba, Joel Kim Booster and Pete Lee. Summer Jazz Lunch at Bayside
Sept. 12. Swing into the weekend with Irvine Barclay Theatre and Bayside’s midday outdoor summer jazz series—hosted every Saturday through September 26. This week’s featured jazz artists are John Clayton (pictured), Jeff Hamilton and Graham Dechter. Reservations required and are all-inclusive of lunch, tax, tip, and music. Ballet Folklórico de Los Ángeles Drive-in Performance
Sept. 10. Distinguished dance company Ballet Folklórico de Los Ángeles welcomes guests to watch their live event at The Muckenthaler Cultural Center as part of the center’s weekly drive-in series. This experience is great for the family, especially for kids who love the Pixar film, Coco, since the company danced at the 90th annual Academy Awards in celebration of the movie.
