With a surname meaning “thousand feet,” Benjamin Millepied seems to have as many accomplishments on his résumé, among them former principal dancer of the New York City Ballet, internationally in-demand choreographer for stage and film (such as “Black Swan”) and Yves Saint Laurent fragrance spokesman. His L.A. Dance Project kicks off the 2012–2013 season of Glorya Kaufman Presents Dance at the Music Center, with the premiere performances on Sept. 22–23 at Walt Disney Concert Hall. Described as a “curatorial collective” including composer Nico Muhly, art consultant Matthieu Humery, video producer Dimitri Chamblas and producer Richard Fabius, L.A. Dance Project creates new work and revives seminal collaborations of the past. The program includes Millepied’s world premiere, created for the Music Center; “Quintett,” by William Forsythe; and “Winterbranch” by Merce Cunningham. 111 S.
