Los Angeles has impacted culinary culture in the western world in a variety of ways: it’s home to Wolfgang Puck, the king of modern day celebrity chefs; Chaya Brasserie Beverly Hills is where chef Shigefumi Tachibe invented tuna tartar; and it’s where Roy Choi fostered a nation-wide food truck craze with the original Kogi truck and twitter handle.

Diners in L.A. can get a taste of the city’s top gastronomic offerings from July 15 to 26 during DineLA Restaurant Week. The bi-annual 12-day affair offers specially priced three-course menu for lunch ($15/$20/$25) and dinner ($25/$35/$45).

The foodie celebration has been growing and gaining momentum for years. This summer’s lineup showcases some of L.A. most lauded chefs ranging from Puck, Tachibe and Sang Yoon to Susan Feniger, David Myers and Govind Armstrong. Additionally, it welcomes 71 new restaurants to the program, bringing the total restaurant count to more than 330. New spots include Littlefork, chef Janson Travi’s homage to northeast Atlantic fare; The Royce Steakhouse at Langham Hotel in Pasadena; Silver Lake gastropub Black Hogg; Myers’ French brasserie Comme Ca; and Armstrong’s Willie Jane.

Other top picks include Jimmy Shaw’s Loteria Grill, decadent caviar concept Petrossian, The Spice Table from Bryant Ng (Food & Wine Magazine’s Best New Chef in 2012); Peruvian hotspots Mo Chica, Picca and Paiche from Ricardo Zarate (Food & Wine Magazine’s Best New Chef in 2011); BLD from chef Neal Fraser and Father’s Office and Lukshon from chef Sang Yoon—both of who appeared on season five on Bravo’s “Top Chef Masters.” If you need a few more restaurants to add to your speed dial for the week, try Mediterranean hotspot Cleo at the Redbury hotel, The Bazaar by Jose Andres, chef Scott Conant’s Scarpetta, Thomas Keller’s Beverly Hills outpost of French bistro Bouchon and Tom Colicchio’s Craft.

American Express® sweetens the three-course deal by offering a $5 statement credit to diners who register an eligible American Express® card HERE through July 26, and spend $21 or more with the registered card at a participating restaurant during dineLA’s Restaurant Week, and vacationing (or stay-cationing) food-lovers will receive a $50 American Express® gift card when they book two nights or more at participating area hotels via discoverLosAngeles.com.
