Uncorked Wine Festival
Jan. 25. Celebrating its 10th anniversary, Uncorked Wine Fest returns to Union Station with over 100 wines, food trucks and live music in a classic L.A. setting. New this year is a zero-proof lounge featuring nonalcoholic wines and mocktails. Tickets include all tastings, with food available for purchase. General admission runs this Saturday from 6-9 p.m., while VIP tickets offer early entry at 5 p.m. and access to the historic Fred Harvey restaurant with premium wineries and reserved seating. 800 N. Lankershim Lunar Block Party
Jan. 25. The L.A. Department of Cultural Affairs and Asian makers’ market MAUM present the third annual Lunar Block Party in North Hollywood, celebrating Korean, Vietnamese and Chinese cultures. This free event on Lankershim Boulevard features arts and crafts for kids, shopping at MAUM market, lion and dragon dance performances and Asian-owned food trucks. First Responder Cruise-In Showcase
Jan. 26. The Petersen Automotive Museum hosts a Sunday morning car show and charity event, with all proceeds benefiting the Los Angeles Food Bank, LAFD Foundation and LAPD West Bureau. A $50 ticket includes coffee, bagels, museum admission and parking, whether arriving in a show car or not. The Red Cross will hold a blood drive and Love You So Studios will collect new items for families affected by the fires. Lunar New Year Festival at the Port of Los Angeles
Jan. 25. This South Bay Lunar New Year celebration features live entertainment, a wishing well, arts and crafts, food trucks and carnival-style snacks. A petting zoo offers encounters with roosters, sheep, goats, pigs and reptiles in honor of the Year of the Snake. Starts Jan. 24. A $65 prix fixe menu showcases a blend of signature favorites and exclusive Dine LA offerings at Dear Jane’s. Starters include winter beets and citrus salad, tuna tartare, bbq hamachi kama, or new england clam chowder. Entrées include scampi tagliolini, sand dabs grenoblaise or a 6oz filet of beef with béarnaise or peppercorn sauce ($10 supplement). Descanso’s Grand Opening
Jan. 23. H.Sinno: Poems of Consumption
Jan. 25. Composer, writer and social justice advocate H. Sinno presents Poems of Consumption, a song cycle influenced by Mark Fisher’s Capitalist Realism. Blending poetry from Amazon reviews with the sounds of consumerism—crumpling cellophane, bubble wrap and unboxing—it contrasts with a romantic string quartet. The work features compositions by Sinno and Andy Butler (Hercules and Love Affair), poetry by Sinno and Jimin Seo (Changes Press) and string arrangements by Paul Stroud. Jan. 24-26. Eun Sun Kim, music director of the San Francisco Opera, conducts the LA Phil in Rachmaninoff’s Third Symphony and a new concerto grosso by composer Nico Muhly. Something to Crow About
