Firebird is the Russian-Slavic folk tale that tells the story of a magical bird made of fire and it originally debuted in Paris by Imperial Russian choreographer Michel Fokine in 1910. It is paired with Serenade, the first original ballet Balanchine created in America and a signature works of the New York City Ballet’s repertory.
