Duke Ellington and Mary Lou Williams

Duke Ellington and Mary Lou Williams, two legendary figures in the realm of jazz, displayed an unwavering quest for new avenues of artistic expression. Fueled by their deep-rooted faith, both composers ventured into the creation of significant choral compositions rooted in the African American church tradition, boldly pushing the boundaries of sacred music and jazz. Notably, John Clayton, a highly accomplished bassist, composer, arranger, and producer, who previously held the position of principal bassist with the Amsterdam Philharmonic and co-founded the Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra, presents his latest masterpiece accompanied by the formidable 19-piece Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra. This remarkable concert serves as a jubilant homage to the exceptional musical legacies crafted by these three extraordinary American artists.

Duration: The performance spans approximately 110 minutes, including an intermission.
