Performing arts: Series from Manhattan’s West Side begins Oct. 24
Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa presents Live From the West Side: Women of Broadway, a series of concert events featuring two-time Tony Award-winner Patti LuPone on Oct. 24, Tony Award-winner Laura Benanti on Nov. 14, and acclaimed actress-singer Vanessa Williams on Dec. 5.
Star of the first event, LuPone can be seen on Netflix in Ryan Murphy’s series Hollywood; she recently won the Olivier and What’s OnStage awards for her performance in the musical Company in London’s West End.
Transmitted live in HD from the Shubert Virtual Studios in Manhattan, the concerts offer Broadway tunes, pop songs, and personal stories from the life of each headliner. At-home audience members will be invited to email questions to be answered during the livestream.
Subscription packages including all three events are $75 per household; individual concerts are $30 per household. Performances begin at 5 p.m. PST. Tickets include access to the livestream performance and 72 hours of on-demand viewing beginning one hour after the live broadcast ends.
The series is co-produced by Dallas Summer Musicals and Entertainment Benefits Group. The Center is one of a select group of nonprofit arts organizations participating, the only one in Southern California. 714.556.2787, scfta.org
