Back to Basics
L.A.’s laid-back approach to fashion is epitomized by the insouciant designer T-shirt, rocked by Brentwood moms and Los Feliz hipsters alike. Thanks to two brand-new L.A.-based lines, those jersey basics are only getting more fashionable—and making designer names more affordable. Society for Rational Dress’ Corinne Grassini just launched SfRD, a line of slouchy tees and tanks with subtle touches like tie waists and cutout details. SfRD is sold at boutiques like H. Lorenzo (8660 W. Sunset Blvd., West Hollywood, 310.659.1432); prices hover around $120 to $180. Project Runway winner Jeffrey Sebelia now helms basics line Fluxus (11677 San Vicente Blvd., Brentwood, 310.207.5705; 202 N. Larchmont Blvd., L.A., 323.465.9339), and his spring collection includes burnout jersey T-shirts as well as jumpsuits, minidresses and capelets, with prices ranging from $44 to $159.
