Gang Kitchen
Jon Mangini’s new Gang Kitchen brings the kitchen-and-bar concept to the Gaslamp Quarter with an Asian twist.
This brand new restaurant transformed a 5,000-square-foot industrial warehouse into an urban, Asian-inspired eatery. The brainchild of industry veteran Jon Mangini, Gang Kitchen is the Gaslamp addition to a portfolio of modern kitchen-and-bar concepts that includes Basic Urban Kitchen & Bar in the East Village and URBN Coal Fired Pizza in North Park, but with a discitctly edgy, Asian feel. Gang, which means “steel” in Mandarin, offers a “multi-Asian” menu by Executive Chef Jo Ann Plympton. Dishes such as Shanghai beef, Szechwan lobster crepes and traditional pho and ramen dishes are already temping palates of foodies all over the county. The freestanding warehouse rocks 25-foot ceilings, concrete and steel finishes, and a metal bar-top to contrast the banquette seating, soft lounge furniture and dim lighting that give the restaurant it’s warm, comfortable feeling. The menus and atmosphere seamlessly evolve from happy hour to dinner and drinks into a cool and casual nightlife scene with late night dining options. 345 Sixth Ave., Gaslamp Quarter. 619.550.1600. gangkitchen.com
