Enos, 36, was previously known for her double role as twins Jodean and Kathy Marquart on HBO’s Big Love. She resides in Los Feliz with her husband and young daughter, enjoying life in the spotlight and the golden opportunities that come with it (a role opposite Brad Pitt, for one). She took time out of her busy schedule to chat with WHERE Los Angeles magazine about putting down roots in L.A. and what’s in store for Sarah in season two. —Jessica Radloff
You’re from Houston and lived in New York for 10 years. What was your first impression of L.A.?
I moved to L.A. in the spring of 2006. After a long run on Broadway and then the West End in London, I knew I was ready for a change of pace. Still, I was homesick for New York for a while. The energies of New York and L.A. are so different. It took me awhile to settle in and appreciate the wonderful things L.A. has to offer as a home city: the mountains, the quiet spots, the healthy food and the slower rhythm.
What can you tell us about this season of The Killing?
The closer we get to solving the Rosie murder, the more and more intense the stakes get for everyone.
You have a movie, World War Z, coming out next year. Brad Pitt plays your husband. What was it like working with him?
Brad’s a wonderful guy. He’s a total dad, full of stories and jokes and even magic tricks. It made it so fun for the kids working on WWZ to have him as their movie daddy. And I had a great time working with someone whose work I respect so much.
What are some of your career highlights so far?
When I worked on Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf [on Broadway], having Edward Albee tell me no one’s ever played Honey better felt huge. The first day of shooting The Killing, pulling into Stanley Park [in Vancouver] at dawn, I felt so happy I could have cried. Being acknowledged by both the Emmys and Golden Globes made me feel that I am living the life of a solidly working actor and that I’m the luckiest girl in the world.
You’re married to actor Alan Ruck and have a young daughter. How do the three of you like to spend a day off?
Just being together and with the baby all day is such a treat it almost doesn’t matter what we’re doing! We like to go for walks around our neighborhood. I’ve reached that point where you realize the “boring married life” stuff is actually the sweetest thing around. [We love simple places like] Tomato Pie Pizzeria!
Where do you like to shop?
For my baby stuff, Bel Bambini on Robertson is wonderful!
When you and your girlfriends get together, where do you like to go?
Alcove in Los Feliz is definitely a favorite brunch spot of mine.
Do you have a favorite place to get your dessert fix?
I like dessert! We usually go to Sweet Lady Jane for birthday cake. Also, good old Du-par’s makes a mean piece of pie.
What do you do to keep in shape?
My biggest hobby is tae kwon do! I study at Beverly Hills Martial Arts on Sunset and Crescent Heights. It’s a beautiful school and has become a huge part of my life.
