Mar. 2-4. San Diego Symphony’s principal cellist Yao Zhao takes center stage to perform Die Fledermaus and Cello Concerto No. 1 in A minor, Op. 33 for the First Cello Concerto, then Jahja Ling conducts Ludwig van Beethoven’s stirring and lively Symphony No. 7. The wineries of the Temecula Valley open their cellar doors for guests to taste a bevy of wines at this annual two-day event. Enjoy a self-guided tour of more than 30 wineries, each of which will be offering varietal wines from either barrel, tank or bottle. Mar. 2. On the run after murdering a man, accountant William Blake encounters a strange Indian named “Nobody” who prepares him for his journey into the spiritual world. This black and white postmodern Western stars Johnny Depp, Crispin Glover and Gary Farmer and is shown in conjunction with the exhibition “Walk from the Sun: Photographs of Southern California” by Scott B. Davis. The moody and enigmatic black-and-white photographs in this exhibition deal with issues of both presence and absence, also themes in this film.
