Brazilian Day Festival

Sept. 14. Ruocco Park near Seaport Village hosts the Brazilian Day Festival, celebrating the culture, cuisine and music of Brazil. Rare & Wild Beer Fest

Sept. 14. Head to Embarcadero Marina Park North for the inaugural San Diego Rare and Wild Beer Fest. Guests can sample sips from more than 60 breweries, from both California and across the U.S., including barrel-aged, “funky,” sour and other rare beers; plus food trucks and live music. “Let’s Do Dinner, Del Mar” at the Sky Deck

Sept. 13. The Sky Deck at Del Mar Highlands Town Center hosts a fun culinary evening in partnership with Stella Artois. Enjoy pours of the pilsner beer while sampling bites from Sky Deck outposts like Craft House, Urbana, Ambrogio 15, Glass Box, Parfait Paris and more. Each ticket also includes an engraved Stella Artois chalice to take home, a photobooth, and branded Stella swag. Taste of Gaslamp

Sept. 14. The city’s longest-running tasting tour, Taste of Gaslamp returns for its 28th annual installment. Get to know the Gaslamp Quarter via its diverse dining and imbibing destinations. The tour (stroll at your leisure) spans 16 blocks and includes stops at 20-plus restaurants and bars for bites and sips. Check in early for the pre-party at Happy Does Bar; and stay for the after-party at interactive sports bar Swing Social, offering libations and golf simulators. Now Open. The popular bakeshop SusieCakes—founded by Susan Sarich in 2006 in Los Angeles—has opened its newest outpost at The Forum Carlsbad. Henry 6 at The Old Globe

Through Sept. 15. The Old Globe is only the 11th theater in U.S. history to complete Shakespeare’s entire canon with its world-premiere adaptation and staging of Henry 6. Adapted by Barry Edelstein (who also directs) into a thrilling two-part event, Henry 6 is The Old Globe’s largest Shakespeare production to date—staged at its outdoor Lowell Davies Festival Theatre. Richard O’Brien’s The Rocky Horror Show

Through Nov. 2. Cygnet Theatre presents Richard O’Brien’s The Rocky Horror Show at Old Town Theatre. Centered on naïve lovers Brad and Janet—who encounter a mad scientist while seeking shelter from a thunderstorm in an old castle—the cult-favorite musical is a satirical tribute to the 20th century’s science fiction and low-budget horror flicks. Directed by Sean Murray—based on the book and music by Richard O’Brien—the production features musical direction by Patrick Marion and choreography by Luke H. Sunset Scripps Pier Walks at Birch Aquarium

Select Dates. The Birch Aquarium is offering naturalist-guided walking tours of the Ellen Browning Scripps Memorial Pier (which is generally closed to the public) on select Saturdays and Sundays through April 2025. Learn about the research conducted at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography via interactive activities such as plankton investigations and squid dissections; while watching surfers and autumn’s extraordinary sunsets.
