Ocean Beach Oktoberfest
Oct. 11-12. Grab some friends and head to Ocean Beach for the unique Southern California salute to the celebration of German culture and fun. Guests can look forward to live bands, bratwurst-eating and stein-holding contests, a sausage toss and more on O.B.’s Newport Avenue. 21+. $5 entry. Newport Ave. & Abbott Street, Ocean Beach.



La Jolla Art & Wine Festival 
Oct. 12-13. Head to the beautiful seaside village of La Jolla for the eleventh annual La Jolla Art & Wine Festival. The free two-day juried art show and fundraiser is one of the most prestigious art and wine festivals in Southern California. Featuring over 150 artists from across the U.S. and Mexico, their exquisite creations come in a variety of mediums including painting, sculpture, jewelry design, fine glass, ceramics, woodwork, mixed media and photography. The festival is also a destination where vino enthusiasts and craft beer lovers unite. The iconic wine and beer garden highlights over 40 international wineries, local craft breweries and craft distilleries. Pets allowed. Girard Ave. La Jolla.




Seasonal Dishes at BANKERS HILL BAR + Restaurant
Now Available. Inspired by the season’s freshest produce and flavors, new dinner selections include: gingered carrot and andouille sausage soup topped with sourdough croutons, cilantro and lime cream; grilled levain bruschetta with roasted apples, butternut squash chutney, whipped goat cheese and arugula; burrata cheese with spiced pear jam, toasted hazelnuts, arugula and grilled levain. Seasonal cocktails include Good Vibes Only, made with white rum, passionfruit, lemon soda and sage; and It’s Not You, It’s Me, a combination of  lemongrass-infused gin, lemon, butterfly pea flower and lavender syrup. 2202 Fourth Ave, Bankers Hill, 619.231.0222.


New Fall Menu at Monzu Fresh Pasta
Now Available. Monzu Fresh Pasta ushers in fall with new antipasti and pasta, the former including Grilled Scallops served over house pesto vinaigrette, a Fall Salad featuring mixed greens, roasted chickpeas, dried cranberries and walnuts, and a sweet Burrata Salad served on baby arugula and topped with raspberry granita. Other menu highlights include Ravioli di Zucca stuffed with winter squash, potatoes and cheese, Mare Nostrom Linguine highlighting an unusual combination of swordfish and shrimp in a cherry tomato sauce, Gnocchi Alla Sorrentina with tomato sauce, basil and melted mozzarella, and the cheese and truffle-centric Cestino Linguine Al Tartufo served in a Parmesan cheese bowl. 455 Tenth Avenue, East village, 619.255.5032.


Giardino’s Cocktail Menu
Now Available. After nearly two years, the neighborhood eatery in Lemon Grove is finally able to serve cocktails. Guests can order classics, like the Negroni, Old Fashioned and French 75. Of course, they are serving the popular Aperol Spritz as well as aperitivos, but it’s the originals that the locals are excited about. There’s the beautiful light purple-hued Lavender Lemonade with Tito’s vodka, lavender, lemon and soda, as well as drink that pays homage to Giardino’s hood, the Lemon Grove. 8131 Broadway, Lemon Grove, 619.825.7112.


Pahlmeyer Wine Dinner at THE MED
Oct. 10. Join THE MED for an exceptional multi-course wine dinner prepared by Executive Chef Timothy Ralphs. The dinner will be paired with iconic Pahlmeyer wines, making this popular dinner one to attend. The evening begins with a welcome wine and a chef’s amuse, then moves on to a seated dinner with sweeping ocean views. Taste of Coronado
Oct. 10.Spend a night on Coronado Island, indulging your senses and enjoying amazing bites prepared by local chefs. Take a culinary trip around the world sampling from our local bistros. Meander along Orange Avenue or take a ride on the complimentary trolley. Participating restaurants include Primavera Ristorante, The Henry, Little French and More. $45 GA; $50 on the day-of. California Spiny Lobster Tasting Dinner
Oct. 10-13. Crafted by Chef de Cuisine John Duran, Grant Grill’s California Spiny Lobster Tasting Dinner offers an authentic Southern California fine-dining experience with a variety of savory menu items featuring seasonal, fresh and buttery, California Spiny Lobster. Guests can relish in Spiny Lobster throughout the day with specialty dishes offered during breakfast and lunch. Through October 19. $80. The U.S. Grant, 326 Broadway, downtown.




Art San Diego 2019
Oct. 10-13. Explore an amazing array of contemporary and modern art at Art San Diego, taking place at the San Diego Convention Center located along the beautiful waterfront setting of San Diego Bay. Entering its second decade this fall, Art San Diego is unique in bringing exceptional artwork from local, national, and international galleries together alongside outstanding show programming, live entertainment, and other exclusive events. Almost Famous
Oct. 10-13. It’s all happening… San Diego, 1973. Led Zeppelin is king, Richard Nixon is President, and idealistic 15-year-old William Miller is an aspiring music journalist. When Rolling Stone magazine hires him to go on the road with an up-and-coming band, William is thrust into the rock-and-roll circus, where his love of music, his longing for friendship, and his integrity as a writer collide.
