BRO-AM Benefit Party Hosted by Switchfoot

June 13. Help raise funds for several local youth organizations while sipping, sampling and mingling under the stars. Presented by San Diego-rooted rock band Switchfoot, the BRO-AM Benefit Party features bites and drinks from top local restaurants and brands; silent and live auctions; VIP lounges; and an intimate live performance by the Grammy Award-winning band and special guests. BRO-AM 2024 Beach Fest

June 15. This one’s free of charge to attend! Presented by Switchfoot and Rob Machado, the BRO-AM 2024 Beach Fest returns for its 20th anniversary—drawing 15,000 music lovers to Encinitas’ Moonlight State Beach for a day of fun activities by the beach. Festivities start early with a series of surfing events and competitions, including surf jousting; then continue into the early evening with live music on the sand—including Switchfoot and other local music groups. Roller Rink Pop-Up at Hotel Del Coronado

Now Open. A retro-inspired roller skating rink at Hotel del Coronado? Yes, please! Located near the resort’s main entrance, the outdoor pop-up rink is open through Sept. 2. The fun includes theme nights—such as Throwback Thursday; Saturday Disco Fever; Rock Around the Rink on Mondays; and Red, White & Roll on June 30 and July 4. Tickets include roller-skate rentals and up to 90 minutes of skating per session. Coronado Cays Gondola Tours

Ongoing. Celebrating its 25th anniversary this summer, The Gondola Company has been offering Venice canal-inspired tours in Coronado since the outfit was founded in 1999 by Sean Jamieson. Book a cruise aboard a Venetian-style gondola for a 50-minute tour through the Silver Strand’s luxury marina community. Sunset Luaus at the Catamaran

June 14-Aug. 30. The Catamaran Resort Hotel returns with its annual tradition, “Sunset Luaus on the Bay,” held on its bayside property on Tuesdays and Fridays through Aug. 30. This family-friendly celebration of Polynesian food, music and culture includes an all-you-can-eat buffet, classic Mai Tais to drink, live dancing and entertainment, and a silk lei for each guest. Rooftop Lobster Cookout at Mister A’s

June 15-16. Treat Dad to a lobster cookout and the best views in the city for Father’s Day, all for a good cause. Benefitting The Monarch School, Mister A’s hosts its inaugural Rooftop Lobster Cookout on its 12-floor terrace on Saturday and Sunday, with a special menu by executive chef Stephane Voitzwinkler. Feast on a whole or half lobster, served in lemongrass broth with manilla clams, crab legs, red potatoes, andouille sausage and corn; plus other specialty menu items, including peach cobbler for dessert. BASTA!

Now Open. “Sam the Cooking Guy” (Sam Zien) and Grain & Grit Collective bring us a new culinary concept in Little Italy: BASTA!, now open in the Piazza della Famiglia. Led by chef Gavin Mills, the casual eatery offers classic Italian dishes with fun twists. Think: bone marrow garlic bread; crispy cacio e’ pepe gnocchi; hamachi crudo with Meyer lemon, Calabrian chili and Castelvetrano olives; steak tartare; ricotta tortellini; Italian Chicken ‘n’ Waffles; and uni cavatelli; plus themed cocktails like the Tuscan Sunset Negroni. Upcoming | June 18-19. One of San Diego’s more popular culinary ‘hoods, Little Italy is brimming with delicious outposts at every turn. For this popular annual celebration, order your “Taste Passport,” online in advance and embark on a culinary walking tour—sampling bites from around 20 eateries over two days. Fat Ham at The Old Globe

Through June 23. The title alone inspires intrigue. Staged at The Old Globe, Fat Ham is James ljames’ uproarious play inspired by Shakespeare’s Hamlet. The Tony-nominated, Pulitzer-winning comedy centers on Juicy‚ a young queer Black man. At a Southern family cookout, Juicy is confronted by the ghost of his father, who demands revenge for his murder. Broadway World hails it as “Wholly entertaining and creative. Camelot at North Coast Rep

Extended Through July 7. North Coast Rep stages the timeless, Tony Award-winning fairytale, Camelot, based on The Once and Future King by T.H. White. Written by Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe, with new orchestrations by Steve Orich, the musical has been adapted for smaller theaters—taking us inside the world of King Arthur and epic characters like Sir Lancelot, Lady Guenevere and the Knights of the Round Table.
