San Diego Lunar New Year Festival
Jan. 24-26. Celebrate the Lunar New Year with a three-day, family-friendly celebration at Officer Jeremy Henwood Memorial Park. The Old Globe: Appropriate
Jan. 25-Feb. 23. The San Diego premiere of Branden Jacobs-Jenkins’ (pictured) comic drama, Appropriate, opens at The Old Globe theater on Saturday. When estranged siblings gather at their late father’s estate in Arkansas to settle his affairs and property, a shocking relic is uncovered amid the clutter—revealing decades of resentment, secrets and disturbing truths about the family’s past. The New York Times hails the play as “subversively original… remarkable and devious.” Steve H. Broadnax III directs. Broadway San Diego: Some Like It Hot
Upcoming | Jan. 28-Feb. 2. Broadway San Diego presents the smash-hit musical Some Like It Hot, a winner of four Tony Awards and a Grammy Award for “Best Musical Theater Album.” The story centers on two musicians in Chicago during Prohibition, who must flee the city after witnessing a “mob hit.” They find themselves on a cross-country train ride filled with adventure and “razzle dazzle” as gangsters are hot on their heels.
