Instruments of Torture
The Museum of Man brings this Italian exhibit stateside for a limited engagement.
Instruments of Torture is a gripping exhibition of the cruel devices engineered throughout history to inflict unbelievable pain and suffering. Not just a show of brute force and gore, the artifacts are on display to help explain the darkest side of human nature. By exploring why torture occurs, this exhibition begs the question “Are people the real instruments of torture?” In addition to the rare artifacts on tour from Italy’s Museo della Tortura, the Museum of Man has partnered with the International Legal Studies Program at California Western School of Law, the Joan Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice, and Survivors of Torture, International to help address the contemporary issues of torture in a post-9/11 world in hopes that one day the only place to hear about torture will be at a museum. 1350 El Prado, Balboa Park. 619.239.2001. museumofman.org
