Leatherby’s Cafe Rouge at Segerstrom Center for the Arts takes “dinner and a show” to a new level with Broadway–themed meals. Executive Chef Ross Pangilinan offers a unique dining experience as he captures the spirit of the music and characters of musicals including Pippin, The Grinch Who Stole Christmas, Kinky Boots and more. Pangilinan and team have crafted whimsical three-course menus that honor and salute each cherished take by translating the magic of the performance into each dish, creating a full sensory immersion from acting to appetite.

For example, Segerstrom Center for the Arts kicks off the fall season with the award-winning musical Pippin, and in turn Leatherby’s serves up dishes that mirror the ambitious and curious protagonist as reflected in the first course “Magic to Do,” a molecular beet salad, orange sphere, balsamic caviar, goat cheese, gelee, pistachio powder, olive oil sorbet and beet air. December showcases a holiday classic, The Grinch Who Stole Christmas, with dishes like “Roast Beast,” with house porchetta, confit sweet potatoes, roasted market vegetables, cranberry salsa verde and natural jus that plays off of the grouchy, cave-dwelling Grinch. Wrapping up 2014 and welcoming in 2015, Segerstrom raises the curtain for Kinky Boots, in which the scene where Lola experiences an epiphany on her journey of self-acceptance inspires the “Hold Me in Your Heart” dessert with Panettone bread pudding, red wine poached pear, candied orange sauce and Grand Marnier ice cream.
