Every summer, surfers, skaters and super fans descend on Huntington Beach for nine days of extreme sports competitions, fashion, art and music. The  Nike U.S. Open of Surfing, an Association of Surfing Professionals Prime event and the world’s largest pro-surfing competition, takes center stage July 28-Aug. 5. Thus far, 30 of the top 32 surfers in the world are slated to compete in the epic Huntington waves including renowned surfer Kelly Slater, two-time champion Brett Simpson and newly crowned five-time World Champion Stephanie Gilmore. On the shore, witness the return of Converse Coastal Carnage, a pro/am skate competition with 40 premier skateboarders from around the world competing in an blue, retro pool-shaped bowl complete with hops, tight corners and mellow transitions as well as new obstacles for skaters. New this year is the Damn Am HB, the first street skateboarding contest to hit the U.S. Open in years. After an adrenaline-packed day, catch some of alternative music’s best acts with your feet in the cool Pacific.
