Surfs Up at California Surf Museum
The history and culture of surfing come to life through permanent and rotating exhibits in Oceanside.
Nearly 20,000 visitors a year come to this small museum to learn about the history and culture of surfing. Explore treasured memorabilia of legendary surfers and get a feel for how these artifacts impacted their lives and lifestyles. Officially, the mission of the museum is to be an international repository and resource center for the sport of surfing by capturing, preserving and chronicling its art, culture and heritage for the education and enjoyment of future generations. But for those who grew up amid that beach culture, it is a pleasant step back in time. The museum has permanent and rotating exhibits. The gift shop sells jewelry, books, photographs and other items, with the proceeds supporting the nonprofit museum. Open daily. 312 Pier View Way, Oceanside, 760.721.6876. surfmuseum.org
