Jan 28-29. Nearly 450 of the nation’s finest cats will vie for top honors at this year’s Food and Water Bowl, the largest annual cat show on the West Coast. Cats will be judged on personality, health and beauty. Local rescue organizations will have cats available for adoption. San Diego Black Film Festival
Jan. 26-29. The San Diego Black Film Festival returns for its tenth year to honor and promote African American and African Diaspora cinema. The SDBFF is one of the largest black film festivals in the country and continues to experience tremendous growth. Screening over 100 films across a spectrum on genres, the festival is bookended by opening and closing receptions. Jan. 28-29. Ring in the year of the Dragon! Celebrate the Chinese New Year, which falls on January 23, with a weekend of entertainment, performances and presentations including an opening ceremony with Lucky Lion Dancers. Jan. 27-Mar. 4. Based on the novel by Bradford Ropes, 42nd Street tells the story of famed Great White Way director Julian Marsh’s efforts to produce what might be his last Broadway show. Fresh off the buss from Allentown, Peggy Sawyer is a chorus girl, but after the show’s star has an accident, Peggy finds herself stealing the show and Julian’s heart.
