Del Mar Racing Opens July 17

San Diegans have long supported their beloved Padres and Chargers, but beginning July 17, it’s all about betting on the ponies. Just after the close of the San Diego Fair, thoroughbred racing takes over Del Mar five days a week, where post time most days is 2 p.m. Break out the hats and fascinators for Opening Day—one of San Diego’s most anticipated annual events will be packed with A-list celebrities and well-dressed socialites. Season highlights include Four O’Clock Fridays, a summer concert series, family weekends and the $1 million Pacific Classic on Aug. 25. Dark Monday and Tuesday. Through Sept. 4.
