Green Day’s “American Idiot” Rocks the Civic Theatre
From May 28-June 2, the San Diego Civic Theatre will be packed with Idiots.
Based on Green Day’s Grammy Award-winning multi-platinum album of the same name, American Idiot tells the story of three lifelong friends that are forced to choose between their dreams and the safety of suburbia as they search for meaning in a post 9-11 world. The two-time Tony Award-winning Broadway musical features hits including “Boulevard of Broken Dreams,” “21 Guns” and the album’s title track, “American Idiot,” with lyrics by Green Day lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong. Songs from Green Day’s follow-up album “21st Century Breakdown” are also included in the score. Immediately following the Wednesday, May 29 performance, all audience members are invited to listen to cast members share their experiences and stories of performing their roles on tour.
