The Book of Mormon
The winner of nine Tony Awards, Broadway’s The Book of Mormon is at the San Diego Civic Center for a limited engagement May 27 through June 8.
With just 16 performances, The Book of Mormon is creating a theatrical frenzy in San Diego. From Trey Parker and Matt Stone, best known as the creators of “South Park,” this religious satire tells the story of two young Mormon missionaries sent to a remote village in northern Uganda, where a brutal warlord is threatening the local population. Hilarity ensures as these naïve and optimistic missionaries try to share one of their scriptures, the Book of Mormon, and have trouble connecting with the locals, who are far more worried about their daily survival against impending war, famine, poverty and AIDS. After debuting on Broadway in 2011, The Book of Mormon has earned nine Tony Awards, including Best Musical. On Wednesday, May 28, stick around after the show for an exclusive Actor Chat Back to learn what it’s like to tour in a Broadway show right from the actors themselves. May 27-June 8.
