“Colonialism is Terrible, But Pho is Delicious”

Chance Theater and Aurora Theatre Company team up to produce a special reading of a new livestreamed play by Dustin Chinn about food and cultural appropriation. Colonialism is Terrible, But Pho is Delicious took its inspiration from two viral incidents around cultural appropriation and food. This dark comedy spans centuries, continents, and cultures in its three-part vignette structure: 1880s Hanoi, 1999 in Ho Chi Minh City and present-day, gentrifying Brooklyn.

This live stream reading stars Celeste Den (M. Butterfly, WHAT/IF, The Blacklist), Elissa Beth Stebbins (Becky Nurse, Kings), Trieu Tran (Equus, Altered Carbon, Tropic Thunder) and Joseph Patrick O’Malley (MacBeth, Spamalot!).
